Taila Paka Vidhi — The Classical Method

Prepared the way the texts prescribe

A formulation with 40+ herbs demands even more discipline in preparation, not less. Ortho Strong Oil follows the classical Sneha Paka process, in small batches, so every herb's contribution survives into the final oil.

60 LMax Per Batch · Small-Batch Paka
Stage 1 · Yavakuta

Coarse grinding

2–4 mm

All 40+ dried herbs are individually ground to yavakuta — "barley-grain" coarseness — before blending, so no single herb over- or under-releases its actives.

Stage 2 · Kalka & Kwatha

Paste & decoction

1 : 4 : 16

The combined herb blend becomes a fresh kalka (herb paste) and kwatha (water decoction) in the classical ratio — one part paste, four parts oil, sixteen parts decoction.

Stage 3 · Mandagni Paka

Slow, controlled heat

90–105 °C

Simmered on gentle heat between 90–105 °C, never past ~110 °C. With this many herbs in one batch, slow paka is what keeps every botanical from scorching before it infuses.

Stage 4 · Siddhi Pariksha

Batch completion test

Varti test

The kalka is rolled into a wick (varti) and tested on flame — it must crackle clean with no moisture left. Only then is the 40+ herb batch filtered and bottled.

Why only 60 litres at a time? A dense, high-herb-load formulation like this one is especially prone to hot spots under fast heating. Small batches keep every one of the 40+ herbs cooking evenly through the vessel.
